First of all, if I have been ignoring anyone this past week, I promise it hasn't been intentional! My work load seems to have multiplied all of a sudden, but I will do my best to catch up soon. Thank you to K-Teen, Penguin, Orion Children's Books and Macmillan Children's Books for the review copies here. I read Breathless in mere minutes and really enjoyed it. It's a great novella and the perfect bridge between Spark and Spirit. I also managed to finish A Face Like Glass. Guys, this book is brilliant. It's the perfect definition of a children's book that can be enjoyed by all ages. The writing it exquisite, and I could go on and on - but I'll save it for my review! If You Find Me and The Fifth Wave have both had plenty of early praise too, so I look forward to getting stuck into these books fairly soon. I spotted Rick Yancey's The Monstrumologist at a local charity shop for £1.25, so I thought it would be interesting to compare it to The Fifth Wave. Plus it was bargain buy - how could I resist?

ReplyDeleteI have a copy of A Face Like Glass but haven't gotten round to it yet - I will have to go in search of it. I got a copy of If You Find Me as well, it looks awesome!
I refuse to go into charity shops to look at books because I would come out with a million - lol!

Oh I really love the cover to If You Find Me that we have, I found the other one pretty scary and I think that's what put me off in the first place. But the reviews for this book have been fantastic! So I can't wait to see what you think! I also grabbed a copy of Breathless, I could probably stare at the cover all day long! I have been wanting a Merrick fix for ages, so was happy to get this copy. And I will definitely be looking out for your updates on The 5th Wave, I resisted in requesting a copy and so far have been regretting it... I hope you enjoy all your books Sam! :)

THE 5TH WAVE! Eek, Sam, I really hope you enjoy that one! Penguin's been advertising that book like crazy, and many people have been giving it pretty good reviews, so it must be good. I saw your rating on GR for A FACE LIKE GLASS, so I'm thinking of getting that one, even though I don't usually go for middle-grade books.

I haven't done a Sunday Post in SUCH a long time! I can't wait to read Nick's novella, he is a wonderful character. The Fifth Wave has been getting a lot of hype, we'll see how that ends up.

Both are available outside of the UK. Though the covers I have featured here are for the UK editions. :)

ReplyDeleteIf You Find Me is brilliant!! And okay, I'm on a book buying ban (after I spent about a 100 on them :\) but as soon as April rolls around, I'm going to get Face Like Glass. I've heard way too much about that book to not be tempted!

I adore the cover of If You Find Me, much much cuter than the US cover haha. ;) Is it just me or the guy in the cover of Breathless do look like Ken's Barbie? His body is too... proportional. :P But I'm glad you really enjoyed it, Sam! <3 Can't wait to read your review of A Face Like Glass.
