Waiting on Wednesday (#12)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly blog feature hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine which spotlights future releases that we are looking forward to. Here is my choice for this week:

Title: Eve & Adam
Authors: Michael Grant and Katherine Applegate
Publisher: Feiwel & Friends
Release Date: October, 2012
ADD ON GOODREADS
Sixteen-year-old Evening Spiker lives an affluent life in San Francisco with her mother, EmmaRose, a successful geneticist and owner of Spiker Biotech. Sure, Evening misses her father who died mysteriously, but she’s never really questioned it. Much like how she’s never stopped to think how off it is that she’s never been sick. That is, until she’s struck by a car and is exposed to extensive injuries. Injuries that seem to be healing faster than physically possible.

While recuperating in Spiker Biotech’s lush facilities, she meets Solo Plissken, a very attractive, if off-putting boy her age who spent his life at Spiker Biotech. Like Evening, he’s never questioned anything...until now. Solo drops hints to Evening that something isn’t right, and Emma-Rose may be behind it. Evening puts this out of her mind and begins her summer internship project: To simulate the creation of the perfect boy. With the help of Solo, Evening uncovers secrets so big they could change the world completely.

I love the premise for this and really, really hope it delivers. Katherine Applegate is a new author to me and this is the first time I have ever come across her, but I am a fan of Michael Grant's work so I have high hopes for this one. Let me know if you like the sound of this and feel free to leave links. :)

  3. Definitely sounds interesting. I feel like when it comes to the bible story, everyone shames Eve. But it's nice to see that in this interpretation it seems like she's the one in charge. Very cool!

  7. Oh my gosh, you picked another amazing book I've never heard about and turned it into a novel I'm dying to read -- with your WOW post! x) I can't imagine how strong my want would've been if you wrote a positive review for it, especially with that gorgeous cover and cool-sounding synopsis. It doesn't sound like anything I've heard of in a long time, and I love that about it! <3

Amazing pick for your WOW this week, Sam! I love it when two others join together to write a book -- I hope this one doesn't disappoint too! :)

  26. i just saw this on goodreads, I know Katherine Applegate writes contemporaries so it was interesting to see she has a non-contemporary coming out! Premise sounds like it can go both ways, either fantastic or too cliche. Hope its good!

  28. This one sounds awesomely weird, and knowing Michael Grant and Katherine Applegate, I suspect it will also be awesomely gritty. Re: Katherine Applegate, she wrote the Animorphs series, and she's also Michael Grant's wife. ;D I'm really interested to see how this turns out.

  38. Ooo, this one sounds cool. I think those two authors are married, right? I downloaded GONE last year when it was only $1.99 but I still haven't gotten around to it yet! Someone was just nudging me about that recently.

Thanks for the heads up, Sam, I hadn't heard of this one. :)

  39. The cover reminds me of Genesis a little bit, which I suppose is not surprising considering the topic. I hadn't really noticed this one before, but it sounds really interesting. Sorry for not stopping by sooner, I've been away(busier than ever) this entire week.
